DEIJ Toolkit Now Available from CDRW

The Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed is excited to announce the release of the second volume of their Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Toolkit. The first volume, released in the spring of 2020, focuses on primarily on equity and inclusion within an organization’s culture. This 38-page addition concentrates on external engagement practices.

CDRW highly recommends starting with the Internal Toolkit if you or your organization are new to these documents. Oftentimes organizations will focus primarily on external engagement and are faced with setbacks that would have been mitigated if more of their efforts were directed at changing the internal workings of their organization before beginning external work.

Diversity is not “the challenge of the moment”, but a goal that should be incorporated throughout an organization’s values and activities. Organizations that approach equity work by creating a solid foundation of internal organizational work find that they are more successful when they embark on increasing equity in their external work.

The second volume covers a variety of topics, spanning from Principles for Community Engagement, Conference and Major Event Planning, and Identity-Specific Resources for Programming and Engagement. To see more of the Coalition’s DEIJ work, visit CDRW’s Equity Webpage. There you will find links to our resource library, equity-focused blogs, and information on how to join the Coalition’s DEIJ Workgroup.
